Maggs is thrilled to announce a successful open day held on Saturday May 18 with the esteemed presence of the Mayor of Worcester and High Sheriff of Worcestershire.
This special event served as an opportunity to also welcome valued stakeholders, partners and guests to view the charity’s facilities they have generously supported.
Maggs’ Worcester Day Centre is open five days a week and provides a safe, dry environment where the homeless and vulnerable people can receive tailored support. Located in the St. Albans Church, the day centre is the first of Maggs operations, opening in 1985, to aid rough sleepers and provide a sanctuary for food and support.
Two of Maggs’ valued day users were also in attendance and chatted to guests about how the centre and its services continue to provide valuable support and companionship.
Melissa Blewitt, Maggs’ Marketing and Relations Manager said: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Worcester and the High Sheriff of Worcestershire, as well as our dedicated stakeholders to Maggs Day Centre.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with those who make our work possible and it allowed us to demonstrate the positive impact of their contributions firsthand. We’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds and celebrating our 40th anniversary next year!”
Worcester Mayor Cllr Mel Allcott confirms: “Spending time with the trustees, volunteers and staff gave a real insight into the wide ranging issues affecting homeless people today. I look forward to a further visit and supporting this vital charity where I can.”
The open day featured a tour of the centre and the opportunity to meet with Maggs’ staff including support workers, outreach workers and transition workers.
